Design Requirements

  • This app should have a feature that allows users to like and dislike certain activities (and thereby customize the activities they are presented with later) because students want to see things that are personally appealing with sifting through too much information
  • This app should have standardized and detailed information about each activity it catalogs (i.e. date, time, closing and opening time, entrance fee, features, accessibility, level of difficulty) because students want to know what they are getting themselves into before they embark on an outdoor adventure.
  • This app should offer a Tinder-esque match up system that allows users to create a profile match up with users with similar outdoor interests because students are open to exploring with and getting to know other JMU students or Harrisonburg residents.
  • This app should have a Ride-Share-esque feature that allows users to find and join groups of people participating in outdoor recreational activities because transportation is a barrier to participation in outdoor activities for students at JMU. (Note: this feature should also link to UREC trips or shuttles that are available to transport students to activities.)
  • This app should offer a calendar of upcoming events that are arranged by distance because students want to be able to see what is going on and know whether or not they can reasonably attend based on distance.
  • This app should allow users to request and receive notifications about specific events because students want to know what is going on or coming up without having to go to lengths to seek out this information.
